Outlook's Md Asghar Khan wins Laadli Media Award For Gender Sensitivity 2023. His story 'Netarhat Field Firing Range Mamla: Tooten Vaadon Ke Tees Saal' won the Best Feature Story award in Web-Feature category (Northern Region). The story, which was published in Hindi Caravan Magazine in March 2022 uncovers the long‐standing struggle of the Adivasi communities in Gumla and Latehar districts of Jharkhand against the Netarhat Field Firing Range, shedding light on the historical and contemporary aspects of their plight, especially women who have faced abuse and assault during military exercises.
The Laadli Media Awards was instituted in 2007 by Population First, a nonprofit organisation supported by the United Nations Population Fund. The awards honour, recognise and celebrate the efforts of those in news media and advertising who highlight gender sensitivity.
