Mumbai on Monday logged 95 new COVID-19 cases, a drop from more than 200 infections registered daily in the last six days, while one more patient succumbed to the respiratory illness, said the city civic body.
With these additions, the city's overall COVID-19 tally rose to 11,58,983, while the death toll increased to 19,750, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in a bulletin.
The metropolis has reported cases in two digits after recording more than 200 COVID-19 infections in the last 6 days. The financial capital reported the third death in less than a week. The victim was a 51-year-old comorbid woman suffering from an “interstitial lung disease”, the bulletin said.

Last week, Mumbai witnessed one death each on April 5 and 6. Mumbai had been reporting more than 200 daily COVID-19 cases since April 4, but the tally dipped in the last 24 hours, which according to BMC sources, generally happens on Mondays due to less number of tests on weekends.
According to the bulletin, 74 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, taking their cumulative count to 11,37,779 and leaving the metropolis with an active caseload of 1,454. Mumbai's coronavirus recovery rate was 98.2 per cent, while the growth rate of cases between April 3 and 9 stood at 0.0167 per cent, it said.

The city's case doubling rate was 4,000 days, as per the bulletin. Meanwhile, the BMC has made face masks compulsory for patients, visitors and employees in all civic-run hospitals. The civic body has also appealed to citizens above 60 years of age to wear face masks in crowded places as a precautionary measure.
