Preparations have started for the celebration of Hindu festival Diwali across India. Diwali marks the return of Lord Rama to his home in the Kingdom of Ayodhya after 14 years of exile in the Hindu epic Ramayana. Diwali follows the festival of Dussehra, which marks the killing of demon King of Lanka Ravana by Rama. Ravana had abducted Rama's wife Sita during their years of exile.
