In a distressing incident, suspected members of a separatist group carried out a nighttime assault on a police station in southeastern Iran, resulting in the tragic death of 11 individuals and leaving several others injured, according to state TV reports on Friday. The deputy governor of Sistan and Baluchistan province, Ali Reza Marhemati, confirmed that senior police officers and soldiers were among those killed in the 2 am attack in Rask town, situated approximately 1,400 kilometers (875 miles) southwest of Tehran.

In response to the assault, the police engaged in a shootout with the attackers, successfully eliminating several of them. State TV attributed the attack to Jaish al-Adl, a separatist group notorious for its activities. In 2019, Jaish al-Adl claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing on a bus, resulting in the tragic death of 27 members of Iran's Revolutionary Guard force.
