10 Different Roles In 10 Projects – Govind Namdev Set To Create A Significant Mark In 2023

Veteran actor Govind Namdev is playing a wide variety of characters in a long list of films in this coming few months. Here’s what he has to say about playing so diverse characters and what all to expect from him the months to come.

Having been a part of many highly acclaimed films in his illustrious career, veteran actor Govind Namdev has won the audience’s hearts with his powerful and memorable performances in ‘Wanted’, ‘OMG - Oh My God!’, ‘Bandit Queen’, ‘Prem Granth’, ‘Sarfarosh’, ‘Viraasat’, ‘Kachche Dhage’, ‘Satya’ among many others. Now, the actor will be seen essaying 10 different characters in 10 different projects this year.

Sharing about the contrasting characters in his upcoming projects he says, "I'm really enjoying the invigorating transition from one character to another. I am truly looking forward to the most probable release of these diverse projects and hoping that my hard work will leave a lasting mark on the audience’s heart through my performance. I have always put in a great deal of effort in developing each of my characters, their specific demeanours, physical nuances, emotional and mental states and paid special attention to bring a completely different personality to life on screen through each of them.”

Here's taking a quick look through how these projects are different from one another not just in stories but even in the genres:

  • Govind Namdev will be a significant part of filmmaker Meghna Gulzar's much-anticipated film ‘Sam Bahadur’. The biographical drama features Vicky Kaushal in the titular role, alongside Sanya Malhotra as Manekshaw’s wife Silloo and Fatima Sana Shaikh. The film is based on the life and times of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, one of India’s greatest war heroes.
  • Govind Namdev then returns in ‘Oh My God 2’, but in a completely new and contrasting role from the one he played in the prequel, as a kind-hearted, sympathetic mahant.
  • Govind Namdev will be seen essaying the role of an awfully rich spice businessman, 'Masala King' in Siddharth Roy Kapur's ‘Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan’, starring Taapsee Pannu and Pratik Gandhi which is helmed by director Arshad Syed.
  • Govind Namdev will be seen in the film 'Gandhi Talks' produced by Zee Studios and directed by Kishor Pandurang Belekar. The movie will feature Vijay Sethupathi, Arvind Swamy and Aditi Rao Hydari. ‘Gandhi Talks’ is speculated to be a silent film based on a dark satirical comedy. The music for the movie is composed by the Oscar winner AR Rahman.
  • Govind Namdev will be seen in 'Aazam - Rise Of A New Don' produced by BMX Motion Pictures Pvt Ltd and directed by Shravan Kumar. It stars Jimmy Shergil and Abhimanyu Singh and is based on one night’s murder spree to become a Don in Mumbai’s underworld.
  • Govind Namdev will also be seen playing the historical role of Nana Fadnavis in Arjun Rampal-starrer period drama ‘The Battle Of Bhima Koregaon’, which is directed by Ramesh Thete and Aashu Trikha.
  • Govind Namdev will be seen in the MX Player’s in-house web series ‘Chota Yadav’ which chronicles the criminal underbelly of Bihar. He will be seen playing a Bahubali who rules a town in Bihar. Directed by Raj Amit Kumar, the show starring Ranvir Shorey, Saurabh Shukla, Sheeba Chaddha, Sushant Singh and many others.
  • Govind Namdev also has the crime thriller web series based on the real-life cop of Uttar Pradesh, titled ‘Inspector Avinash’ lined up, starring Randeep Hooda in the titular role and Govind Namdev is playing his powerful and prominent Advocate-Father. The show also stars Mahesh Manjrekar, Urvashi Rautela, Rajniesh Duggal and many others.
  • Govind Namdev will be seen essaying Adolf Hitler in the Hindi film 'Alien Frank' which is a completely fresh take on the book 'The Diary Of A Young Girl' by Anne Frank, the most discussed victim of the Jewish holocaust, that documented her life in hiding from 1942-1944, during World War II.
  • Govind Namdev will be seen in a web series titled ‘Ret’ (Sand) based on 'sand mafia' where he's portraying one of the mafias which also stars actor Manoj Joshi and Milind Gunaji.
