Sabalenka has made a very good start in this third-round clash, winning the first game by holding Kasatkina to love. The second set is a bit longer, with Kasatkina saving two break points, but the Belarusian capitalises on her third chance to take a two-love lead.

After a miserable first set, Kasatkina made a dream start by winning both opening games in the second set, aided by some unforced errors by Sabalenka. However, the top seed resets herself and ties the set two-all.

Credit to Kasatkina, she is giving it her all to keep herself in the contest against the world No. 1. Every time Sabalenka is getting a one-game lead, Kasatkina is cutting it down with sheer perseverence. This is shaping up to be a brilliant contest, and not so much a one-sided rout as many expected.

Sabalenka powers through right when it matters and clinches the next two games to win the second set and the match. Still, absolute credit to Kasatkina for pushing the top seed right until the very end. Sabalenka, meanwhile, moves on to the fourth round as she searches for her maiden Roland-Garros title.
