ONE Friday Fights 98 Results: Chartpayak Goes 6-0 In ONE Against Kongchai, Nong Oh Debuts In Style With 53-Second KO

Twelve intense matchups across Muay Thai and MMA made up the card at ONE Friday Fights 98, and the crowd got everything they could have hoped for from start to finish.

The 26-year-old slugger weathered an early storm to deal heavy damage with his boxing against Kongchai’s vice-like pressure in the first round.

Both men then engaged in brutal clinch warfare in the second stanza, but Chartpayak dealt the better offense via his terrifying knees.

Though visibly tired, the Kiatpet affiliate worked behind his body kicks to maintain distance from Kongchai, who made an intimidating push in the final round.

However, it was too little too late, as Chartpayak’s defense and counter-striking earned him the judges’ nod, which moved him to 6-0 in ONE Championship and 67-15 overall.

Kacem Edges Out Krisana For Third Straight Win

Kacem showcased slick head movement to evade his Thai foe’s punches in the opening round, leaving Krisana to rely on kicks.

Kacem attempted to shift momentum with leg strikes in the second round, but Krisana managed to catch them and fire back with his own kicks and teeps to keep the French-Belarusian at bay.

In the third round, Kacem figured out how to close the distance. From there, he landed cleaner shots that staggered his opponent.

It looked as if he may find a finish, but he had to settle for a split-decision victory in the end, which marked his third consecutive win in ONE Championship and improved his overall record to 52-11.

Sonrak Knocks Ouraghi Down En Route To Fifth Successive Win

The Myanmarese striker delivered chopping leg kicks to get the action underway, then moved to his dynamite hands to send his opposite number down for an eight-count soon after.

He brought that same fire to the second canto, throwing strikes from all angles. But it was his clinch game that proved the difference when his French-Algerian foe ripped through in search of a knockdown.

Sonrak kept to the same tactics in the final round – staying strong defensively and unloading at every opportunity – and emerged victorious via unanimous decision to improve his resume to 68-22 in the end.

Paeyim Outworks Teeyai To Remain Perfect in ONE

Teeyai was the first to push the pace midway through the opening round, but Paeyim used his suffocating clinch to subdue him and land his patented knee strikes.

Both fighters threw heavy combinations at the start of the second round, but Paeyim found his rhythm once again and blasted Teeyai with knees to the midsection.

The PK Saenchai Muaythaigym man turned up the aggression in the third round, but Paeyim used that to his advantage and blasted his fellow Thai striker with precise counters to score crucial points.

In the end, two of three judges sided with Paeyim, and he secured his third straight win in ONE Championship and improved to an impressive 58-14 overall.

Nong Oh Decimates Khundet In ONE Championship Debut

Khundet threw everything in the opening round, but Nong Oh answered every punch, kick, and elbow thrown at him with ferocious pace. And he had cracked the code by the start of the second frame.

When his Thai rival marched forward, the 33-year-old unleashed a thunderous right hand. With Khundet losing balance, Nong Oh served the coup de grâce via a high kick to send his foe crashing to the canvas at 0:24 of round two.

Khundet attempted to regain his footing, but he was clearly in no state to continue, so the bout was waved off.

The knockout win pushed the MuayLao Lanexang Gym representative’s record to 66-16 overall.

Chabakaew’s Cracking Rights Flatten Gusjung In Round Three

Gusjung spent the first round assessing what her foe was bringing to the table, but she instantly pushed Chabakaew into reverse gear when the second frame kicked off.

The Fairtex Training Center star found her range instantly and shot in with ruthless combinations. Her dominance was clear and things looked sown up – until the early exchanges of the third canto.

Chabakaew found the slightest of openings just as Gusjung decided to let fly with a body kick, and she countered further with four solid right hands to end proceedings at 1:07 of the frame.

With her third win in ONE Friday Fights, Chabakaew moved to 57-6 in her career.

Imangazaliev Dominates Taoufyq For Fourth Straight Win In ONE

The Russian mauler was methodical and used the first round to gauge the six-foot Taoufyq’s skills.

He then went into overdrive in the second frame, first dropping Taoufyq with a cracking overhand right then again with a furious flurry near the corner.

Taoufyq went into survival mode in the third round and worked behind counters in the hopes of a comeback knockout.

However, Imangazaliev continued to push the pace and left Taoufyq a bloody mess to earn the nod from all three judges in the end.

As a result, the Team Mehdi Zatout star improved to 4-0 in ONE Championship and 8-0 overall. 

Nongbia Finishes Dittrich With Massive Right Hand In 53 Seconds

After a brief feeling-out process with kicks and punches, the Laotian warrior managed to trap his foe against the ropes. He saw an opening form there but remained patient, recognizing that Dittrich’s guard was still tight.

However, the moment the German lowered his hands, Nongbia unleashed a monstrous right hand that separated him from his senses at 0:53 of the opening round.

With the highlight-reel knockout victory, Nongbia improved his record to 48-7.

Seksan Shines in Three-Round Slugfest With Zhang

The Thai star intially stalked “Chinese Tiger” behind his lead lefts, but Zhang soon took control of the opening round behind a bevy of flying knees, punches, and kicks.

Seksan came storming back to break the Chinese star’s rhythm in the second frame. He found a home for his dynamite one-twos and knees in the clinch, though Zhang continuously threatened with counters.

With it all in the balance, Zhang came head-hunting in the third canto. But he walked him into a cracking right hook from Seksan for the bout’s only knockdown.

The Fairtex Training Center man took charge from there to outstrike Zhang until the final bell, where he picked up the judges’ nod, improving his slate to 55-23.

Yonaha Scores Inspiring Comeback KO Against Lu

Lu was in total control of the match when it kicked off, and he dropped his Japanese foe twice with his boxing midway through the first round.

However, those knockdowns only sparked Yonaha’s killer instincts. He quickly found form to even the score with a furious barrage at the end the frame.

With momentum on his side, the Saenchai Muay Thai Gym man pushed the pace early in round two and went on to drop Lu for a good via a straight right to the jaw at 2:41.

With the win, Yonaha improved to 2-0 in ONE Championship and scored his 31st career win.

Kholmirzaev Sinks In Deep Guillotine To Submit Zamanbekov

Zamanbekov shot in for a quick a single-leg takedown, but it played right into Kholmirzaev’s hands. The 24-year-old immediately latched onto his opponent’s neck and tightened his grip.

Zamanbekov desperately attempted to transition into side control, but that only deepened Kholmirzaev’s guillotine.

With no other option, “Nightmare” tapped at 1:31 of round one, handing Kholmirzaev his fifth finish in ONE and moving his record to 11-2 overall.

Tymon Flips The Script, TKOs Bhyan Via Left Hook

The British debutant started strong with an early takedown followed by a series of ground-and-pound attacks. 

However, Bhyan reversed roles on the canvas and hung on Tymon’s back for the remainder of the round, coming close to finishing proceedings with three rear-naked choke attempts.

Sensing he was no match for his opponent in grappling, Tymon kept the action standing in the second canto. 

He swung heavy leather to immediately send his Indian foe to the ropes, and a final left hook earned him the TKO win at 46 seconds of round two.
