Jonas Olsson

Swedish footballer Jonas Olsson, 33, was in India last week as part of the Football for Health initiative.

How does Football for Health aim to help?

The slums are unhealthy environments and Breathe Easy India Foundation and Football for Health aim to serve underprivileged children there.

What was your experience in India like?

It is a beautiful country and the people are the kindest and most caring I have ever encountered.

Disappointed on missing out on Sweden’s Euro squad?

I’m disappointed I won’t be playing but I respect the decision.

Your pick for a winner?

Tough question. It’s always difficult to see past Germany, who are always there or thereabouts. The host nations usually do well, so maybe France will go far too.

What is the pre-season with West Brom going to be like?

Pre-season is always difficult and we have a head coach who prides himself on getting his players as fit as possible.

Your expectations from West Brom in the league?

We want to do better this season—both in terms of points and league position.

The toughest forward to face in the Premier League currently and why?

Jamie Vardy had a superb season with his pace and lethal finishing.

The most intimidating stadium to play at in the league?

Old Trafford. It’s a magnificent stadium. We’ve got a pretty good record against Man United and I’ve been lucky to win there a couple of times.

Any holiday plans for the summer?

I will be heading back to Sweden.

If you weren’t a footballer, how would we know you?

I’ve spoken in the past about going into law and human rights. I’d like to  help improve lives of others.
