India At Asian Para Games 2023: Prachi Yadav Wins Gold, Hubby Manish Kaurav Bags Bronze In Para Canoe

India's Prachi Yadav topped off her silver medal in the canoe women's VL2 event the previous day with a gold in the KL2 event on Tuesday. Prachi's husband Manish Kaurav too bagged a bronze in the canoe men's KL3 event at the Asian Para Games 2023 in Hangzhou

Continuing with her strong showing at the Asian Para Games 2023 on Day 1, India's Prachi Yadav won the gold medal in the canoe women's KL2 event in Hangzhou on Tuesday with an impressive timing of 54.962 seconds. Prachi had earlier secured the silver medal in the women's canoe VL2 event. To make thing doubly sweet for her, Prachi's husband Manish Kaurav too bagged a bronze in the canoe men's KL3 event with a timing of 44.605s. (Medal Tally | Full Coverage | Sports News)

In the KL2 event, Prachi had won India's first medal in Asian Para Games 2023, edging out China's Shanshan Wang, who ended up with a silver with a time of 55.674s. Iran's Roya Soltani took the bronze medal with a time of 56.714s. The previous day, Prachi had narrowly missed out on the gold medal in the VL2 event, with Uzbekistan's Irodakhon Rustamova pipping her to the post. Irodakhon claimed the gold with a timing of 1:02.125s, while Prachi finished second, clocking 1:03.47s. Japan's Saki Komatsu was third with a time of 1:11635s.

As for Prachi's husband Manish, the men's KL3 final brought success in the form of a third-place finish. Manish finished behind Kazakhstan's Zhalgas Taikenov, who clocked a timing of 43.369s, and the gold medallist Khasan Kuldashev of Uzbekistan who had a timing of 42.258s.

Later in the day, Gajendra Singh brough India another canoe medal in the form of a bronze in the men's VL2 event, where he clocked a timing of 1:01.084s.
