Katie Mack and Beth Mooney are at the crease for the Scorchers as they look to give a fast start to their side against Sixers.
Katie Mack and Beth Mooney have given Perth Scorchers a solid start in the knockouts especially Mack who has been the aggressor so far with 3 boundaries and a six.
The phase between 5-10 went very well for the Perth Scorchers. Their openers registered a solid 66-run stand for the 1st wicket before Katie Mack was dismissed by Ashleigh Gardner for 40. Both Mooney and Mack have given a solid base to Perth Scorchers to build a high 1st innings total from here.
Sydney Sixers lost two quick wickets in 3 overs including the big one of Sophie Devine. Maitlan Brown got the big scalp of Devine cheaply for 7. However, Mooney has raced par to her 50 and is looking strong to take Sixers to a big total.
Beth Mooney (72*) is taking Perth Scorchers towards a big 1st innings in the knock-out clash against the Sixers. The stage is set for the next batters to explode to take their team to a big total.
Beth Mooney's 76 and Katie Mack's 40 powers Perth Scorchers to a strong 1st innings total of 183 runs. Sydney Sixers will have to chase down a stiff target to reach the finals of the WBBL 2025 season.
Ellyse Perry and Sophia Dunkley are starting the innings for Sydney Sixers and both of them have provided a decent start to their big chase of 184. Perry has been the aggressor, wo have already 12 of 7 balls with 2 fours.
In response to the stiff target of 184, Perth Scorchers are off to a cautious start but the best thing is that they haven't lost a wicket yet which gives them a base to explode in the middle order and chase the target down. Ellyse Perry holds the key for Sydney given her match-winning experience in international cricket.
Sydney Sixers lost 3 top-order wickets in the last 4 overs which has given Perth Scorchers an upper hand in the game. The dangerous Ellyse Perry (29) and Alyssa Healy (1) are back in the hut and SYS-W still need 103 runs off just 60 balls.
The chase is going down the wire. Dangerous Ashleigh Gardner, who's known for her hitting prowess is batting well at 24 and is complemented well by Amelia Kerr (27*). SYS-W now need 58 off 30 balls to win.
Maddy Villiers hits a boundary on the last ball but that's not enough and with it Perth Scorchers reaches the final of WBBL 2025 where they'll be up against the Hobart Hurricanes. Gardner (26) and Kerr (42), at one point were looking like they could make a match out of it but once they got out it was all over for the Sixers.
That's a wrap from our end. We'll soon come back with another blog, until then, bye bye.
