Sri Lanka A Women's team defeated associate cricketing nation Malaysia in match number 7 of the ACC Women's Asia Cup Rising Stars 2026 tournament in Bangkok, Thailand. The Lankans won by a heavy margin of 106 runs at the Terdthai Cricket Ground.

This was Sri Lanka's 2nd match of the on-going tournament. They lost their Asia Cup opener by an agonizing 4-run margin against Bangladesh a couple of days ago. Malaysia, too, had a losing start against hosts Thailand, who were victorious by a whopping margin of 99 runs.

After winning the toss and batting first, Sri Lanka posted 172 runs on the board, courtesy of an half-century from Ama Kanchana, who scored 52 off just 29.

Elsewhere, opening batter Anushka Sanjeewani (39 off 31), Hansima Karunaratne (22 off 27), Shayani Senaratne (21 off 16) and Malsha Shehani (14 off 7) batted well for the Lankans.

In response, Malaysia were restricted to just 66 runs at the loss of 8 wickets within 20 overs. They had a shambolic batting performance as number 3 Nazatul Hidayah Husna and no. 7 batter Nur Izzatul Syafiqa were the team's highest scorers with 14 and 19 respectively.
