Sri Lanka had suffered a very tough loss to the hands of Afghanistan A in their opening fixture of the tournament. The Lankans had posted 171 as the target, through the quickfire knocks from Vishen Halambage (28 off 13), Nuwanidu Fernando (39 off 35), Dunith Wellalage (33 off 29), Milan Rathnayake (41 off 19).
In response, Afghanistan A chased down the total with 1 wicket left through Sediqullah Atal's half-century and a few handy knocks from Darwish Abdul Rasooli, Nangeyalia Kharote and Qais Ahmed.
SL-A: 170/9 (20)
AFG-A: 171/7 (19.5)
While Sri Lanka A had a narrow defeat against Afghanistan A, Team Hong Kong were literally crushed by Bangladesh A in their opening Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025 match.
HK did well to post 167 on the board, thanks to Habibur Rahman Sohan's unbeaten 35-ball 100, but it was their bowling attack that let them down.
Bangladesh A took only 11 overs to claim an 8-wicket victory.
HK: 167/8 (20)
BAN-A: 171/2 (11)

It is going to be a bright sunny day in Doha with temperatures ranging from 29 to 32 degree Celsius.
Sri Lanka A have won the toss and elected to field first.
Nishan Madushka (WK), Vishen Halambage, Lasith Croospulle, Nuwanidu Fernando, Sahan Arachchige, Dunith Wellalage (C), Milan Rathnayake, Ramesh Mendis, Garuka Sanketh, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth and Traveen Mathews
Zeeshan Ali (WK), Anshuman Rath, Babar Hayat, Nizakat Khan, Yasim Murtaza (C), Aizaz Khan, Shiv Mathur, Kinchit Shah, Nasrulla Rana, Ehsan Khan and Ateeq Iqbal
The national anthems and pre-match handshakes are done and now it's time for the action to start. Off-spinner Traveen Mathews bowls the first over. Hong Kong opener Zeeshan is off the mark with an over cover shot for a double. The duo will hope to make full use of the powerplay.
1st innings powerplay score: 46
2nd innings powerplay score: 47
Not much difference in the 1st innings and 2nd innings powerplay score. How much can Hong Kong score here?
HK: 4/0 (1)
Sri Lanka A strike early on in the powerplay to inflict 2 wickets of Hong Kong at a score of just 11 runs in back-to-back deliveries from Traveen Mathews. He did miss out on a hat-trick but picked the crucial breakthroughs of Zeeshan Ali (8 off 10) and Babar Hayat for a golden duck.
Sri Lanka A are all over the Hong Kong A right now with 3 early wickets and the scoring rate is also SL A's control. The last wicket to fell was of Nizakat Khan who was dismissed by Milan Rathnayake
Just as it was looking that a partnership was brewing for HK A, Sri Lanka's young prodigy Dunith Wellalage chipped in with an all-important wicket of the set Anshuman Rath for 21. HK A will again have to forge a partnership while maintaining the run-rate.
Another one bites the dust for Hong Kong A as another wicket falls in the form of Shiv Mathur. V. Viyaskanth is the bowler this time who gets the fifth scalp for Sri Lanka A.
The HK A batting line-up is completely falling apart here. 7 wickets down and the score line has not even reached here. SL A is completely dominating the proceedings here.
HK A's innings never really took off, there were some innings here and there but SL A chipped in crucial wickets at regular intervals which halted HK A's innings for 117 at the end of 20 overs.
That's a wicket and that's the start HK A were expecting while defending a low total of 117. Vishen Halambage gives a return catch to the bowler Yasim Murtaza who accepted it gleefully.
That's a much needed breakthrough for Hong Kong A. Just when it was looking that this partnership is taking the match away from HK A, Nasrulla Rana takes the wicket of Lasith Croospulle.
SL A are handling the chase in a very smart manner, both the batter- Nishan Madushanka (29*) and Nuwanido Fernando (26*) are cautiously marching towards the target. SL A still need 41 off 66 deliveries.
SL A batters seem to be in a hurry now. As the target is getting closer they are playing a bit more freely looking to end the chase as early as possible.
SL A win by 7 wickets and 38 balls to spare! It's a comprehensive win over HK A who could not put up any fight against a stronger SA A unit. Sahan Arachchige hit the winning boundary to end the proceedings for SL A.
Traveen Mathew has been adjudged the 'Man of the Match' for his right-arm off break. He picked up 3 important scalps for the SL A unit at less than six an over and broke the back of HL A's innings.
That's a wrap! We’ll be back with another live blog. Until then, bye bye.
