Zimbabwe cruised into the Super 8 of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 after their match against Ireland got washed out in Pallekele on February 17, 2026.
Zimbabwe walked out of the match with 1 point, which secured their entry into the next round, thus making Australia's last encounter against Oman inconsequential as the only chance, the Aussies could make it through was if Zimbabwe lost to Ireland and Sri Lanka and then they could beat Oman by a heavy margin but, Pallekele's weather washed out any chances of the 2021 champions of making it to the Super 8.
Things have not been smooth for Ireland. They lost early matches but bounced back with a huge win over Oman. However, with this defeat they have also been knocked out of the tournament as Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe qualifies from Group B.
The Toss has been delayed due to heavy rain in Pallekele.
If the Ireland vs Zimbabwe match is washed out, Australia will be knocked out of the race for the Super Eight. Only one point at this stage is enough for Zimbabwe to qualify.
The Ireland vs Zimbabwe match will be telecast live on the Star Sports Network in India from 03:00 PM IST. It will also be streamed live on the Jio Hotstar app and website in the region.
