Fours overs have passed by and England have got the breakthrough wicket of the dangerous opening batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for just 1 off 4 ball. Ayush Mhatre is playing at 18 off 14 while 1st down Vedant Trivedi is at 8 off 6.
Skipper Ayush Mhatre is looking in good touch today and he is just a run away from scoring a half-century. 1st down Vedant Trivedi has been removed by Sebastian Morgan and India are currently 73/2 with Vihaan Malhotra the new man in.
Very good display of bowling from the English bowlers as they have reduced India to 4 wickets. Skipper Ayush Mhatre departed for 49 while Vihaan Malhotra scored just 10. Abhigyan Kundu and RS Ambrish are the new batters in.
India U19 pick up a handy over to keep things moving. A wide to start, then Ambrish pushes a couple through the gap before Kundu finds the boundary with a crisp stroke. The pair rotate strike once more, but two tight dot balls close the over. Eight runs from it as India U19 move to 121 for 4.
The partnership between Abhigyan Kundu (44 not out) and RS Ambrish (48 not out) continues to blossom. The duo has taken India to a position of relative strength after the early wickets. Now for them to capitalize on the strong starts.
Ambrish departs for 48, and Harvansh Pangali follows suit for 19. But Abhigyan Kundu continues to anchor the Indian innings, unbeaten on 70 currently with Kanishk Chouhan alongside him. Aside getting to a good total, batting practice for the middle and lower order in a match situation would no doubt be on the agenda for the Boys In Blue.
Abhigyan Kundu is dismissed for a superlative 82, but Kanishk Chouhan plays a vital, quickfire knock (45 not out off 36) towards the end to guide the Blue Colts to a challenging 295-run total in 50 overs. James Minto is the pick of the English bowlers, taking a five-wicket haul (5/34 in 8 overs).
Deepesh Devendran takes the new ball as usual for India, and Joe Moores, Ben Dawkins open the batting for England. A boundary, wide and two leg byes accrue off the first over, which goes for eight runs. The Blue Colts have one last chance to try out different bowlers and get valuable prep of defending a total, before the tournament proper begins.
Henil Patel sends back Ben Dawkins for 8, but Joe Moores (39 not out) has since been batting quite assuredly with Ben Mayes (26 not out) alongside him at the crease. Ambrish went for 20 runs in two overs, which is the chief cause for the spike in the English run rate.
Khilan Patel dismisses both set batters, Joe Moores (46) and Ben Mayes (340, having them caught by Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Vihaan Malhotra respectively. Young Lions captain Thomas Rew (26 not out) and Caleb Falconer (8 not out) have since kept the English innings going. India need a couple of more breakthroughs to turn the match in their favour.
Thomas Rew (61 not out) goes past the fifty-run mark in an enterprising knock, while Caleb Falconer (23 not out) continues to give him steady company. The duo is taking England closer to the target, and the run rate is on the rise too. This is where the Indian bowlers will be really tested.
It's pouring down in Bulawayo and that causes the umpires to stop play. Thomas Rew (71 not out) and Caleb Falconer (29 not out) are still the unbeaten batters and the Yong Lions are in a strong position, regardless of when and whether play resumes.
Play does not resume amid the incessant rain, and that's it for the match. England, well ahead of the DLS par score when it stopped thus emerge victors by a 20-run margin. India face defeat in their last warm-up game before embarking on the tournament proper.
