India vs England 3rd Test: Team India suffered the narrowest of losses against England in the third Test match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series at the Lord’s Cricket Ground on Monday, 14 July 2025, falling 22 runs short of their target. Shubman Gill had a disappointing second innings, managing only six runs before his dismissal by Brydon Carse. However, the Indian skipper overtook Rahul Dravid as the highest run-scorer for India in a bilateral away series against England.

Gill now has 607 runs from six innings, while Dravid managed 602 runs in a 2002 Test series.

India Bowled ‘Em!

Not much luck for India on the batting front, but their bowling performance in the second innings was a sight to behold. Washington Sundar posted figures of 4/22, while Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj took two wickets apiece.

Notably, in the third Test match, India have had 12 bowled dismissals, which is the best-ever record by the Men in Blue in men’s cricket, as well as the most by any team in 30 years.

Joe Root Claims Home Supremacy

Root has been exceptional for England in the Lord’s Test match. The batter scored 104 in the first innings before adding another 40 runs in the second innings. In the process, he overtook Jacques Kallis as the fourth-highest run-scorer in Tests on home soil with 7045 runs in 144 innings.

England’s Last-Three Woes Continue

Despite taking eight wickets by lunch, England struggled to close the match, with Ravindra Jadeja proving to be a tricky customer to dismiss. Jadeja, along with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, added 58 runs in the last two wickets.

In fact, England are the third-worst team in the last three years when it comes to dismissing the last three wickets in Test cricket. For the last three wickets, the Three Lions have an average of 19.11 per dismissal – only Pakistan (19.65) and Zimbabwe (23.22) have worse.

Jadeja Trails Pant In IND Vs ENG Fifties Record

Ravindra Jadeja was a fighter for India, with his last-wicket stand with Mohammed Siraj key for the visitors. The all-rounder reached his half-century in 149 deliveries with a boundary, marking his fourth consecutive half-century in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series.

This is the fourth time that Jadeja has scored four 50+ scores in Test cricket against England, tying the record set by former captain Sourav Ganguly (2002). He is now behind Rishabh Pant, who has done the feat five times between 2021 and 2025.

Narrow Win For England

The 22-run win against India was England’s narrowest victory in a men’s Test match at Lord’s. This was also their fifth-lowest margin of win, in terms of runs, at home.

The last time England won in such fashion was in 2013, when they defeated Australia by 14 runs in the Ashes.
