Pratika Rawal's injury marred India's final group game
India and Bangladesh shared the spoils after the Women's World Cup match between the two sides was abandoned because of rain, on Sunday in Navi Mumbai. India had already qualified for the knockouts and and are on course to meet reigning champions Australia in the 2nd semi-final on October 30.
Chasing a revised target of 126 in a 27-over-a-side game, India were cruising along nicely at 57 without loss in 8.4 overs when another spell of shower forced the umpires to call off the contest.
Earlier, Indian bowlers restricted Bangladesh to 119 for 9 in a rain-hit game. Sharmin Akhter top scored for Bangladesh with 36.
Left-arm spin pair of Sree Charani and Radha Yadav was the pick of the Indian bowlers, taking two and three wickets respectively.
The game was marred by Pratika Rawal's freak injury after her right foot got stuck into the turf on the final ball of the 21st over of the first innings when she ran in from deep midwicket to stop the ball, and collapsed immediately grimacing in pain.
Indian players ran towards their teammate while a stretcher was also taken to the spot, but Rawal walked off the field with assistance from the support staff and even sported a smile on her face.
All eyes will remain on Rawal’s recovery as India, chasing their maiden World Cup title, will take on formidable Australia in the semifinal here on Thursday.
