Iftikhar Ahmed proved to be a match-winner with both bat and ball as Peshwar Zalmi defeated Hyderabad Kingsmen in a close contest in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) fixture on Wednesday, April 8. The fixture was played at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
Batting first, Kingsmen got off to a worst possible start. Their batters failed to conjure up a partnership with their maverick player, Saim Ayub only scoring 14 runs. It was only Kusal Perera (58) and Marnus Labuschagne (27) who could muster up a fight.
For Zalmi, it was Iftikhar Ahmed and Sufiyan Muqeem who picked four wickets each. PSZ's superb bowling saw HYDK only register 145 in 18.4 overs
In reply, PSZ lost an early wicket but Babar Azam steadied the ship. His calm and composed innings set them on their to victory. However, sudden collapse in the middle-order saw HYDK back in the game.
However, Iftikhar Ahmed provided the last-over heroics to seal the victory for his side and bring crucial points on the board.
