Brisbane Heat suffered their 3rd consecutive defeat in the Women's Big Bash league against the Hobart Hurricanes, whose winning run has now extended to 3 matches.
The match, which took place at the Drummoyne Oval, was reduced to 12 overs, following a short rain delay in the 1st innings. Brisbane skipper Jess Jonassen had won the toss and asked Hobart to bat first.
Opening batters Lizelle Lee and Danni Wyatt-Hodge got the Hurricanes off to a flyer before the rain interruption.
Once the game resumed with revised playing conditions, the duo's partnership ended at 109 runs with Wyatt-Hodge departing for 44 off 26 by skipper Jess Jonassen in the 2nd ball of the final over. Lizelle Lee remained not out at 59.
In response, Brisbane were restricted to 108 runs after a disappointing outing from their batters. Opening batter Grace Harris was Brisbane's highest scorer with 28 runs.
Jemimah Rodrigues (20 off 12), Jess Jonassen (18 off 13), Nadine de Klerk (15 off 6) and Sianna Ginger (13 off 6) were the other notable scorers.
From Hobart's bowling perspective, Heather Graham was the standout performer with her spell of 2/25, Nat Sciver-Brunt proved expensive (1/17 from 6 balls). Nicola Carey and Molly Strano picked two wickets each and Lauren Smith had one wicket to her name as well.
The Hurricanes have now extended their lead at the top of the points table with 6 points. Melbourne Renegades (4 pts), Melbourne Stars (3 pts) and Adelaide Strikers Stars (3 pts) are placed 2nd, 3rd and 4th.
