Guyana had won the toss and decided to bat first on a slow surface at the Providence Stadium. Guyana's batters could never find any rhythm as TKR bowlers kept things tight throughout the innings.

Ben McDermott did score 28 off 17 at the start of the innings for GAW but no other batter could find boundaries with ease. Dwaine Pretorius and Romario Shepherd did hit a few blows towards the end but that could only take the Amazon Warriors to 130/8.

Saurabh Netravalkar was the pick of the bowlers for Trinbago with three scalps for only 25 runs.

Guyana's defence of a small total was off to the worst possible start as Shepherd leaked 22 off the very second over and TKR raced to 33 without loss in two overs. After that, GAW bowlers did wrestle back into the game with wickets but the required run rate never went out of control for TKR who completed the chase in only 18 overs.

Akeal Hossein hit a six and then a four to win the tournament for TKR. This is now the fifth CPL victory for a franchise from Trinidad and Tobago while GAW have now lost seven out of the eight finals that they have featured in.
