Botswana faced Malawi in the ICC T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier 2025 7th place play-off clash on Saturday, 4 October, at Harare Sports Club. In a battle to avoid finishing at the bottom, Malawi defeated Botswana by 56 runs to secure the seventh spot in the tournament.

Malawi decided to bat first after winning the toss. They had a decent start with the batters scoring runs at a good pace without losing too many wickets. With the help of Suahil Vayani's lat blow of 30 runs, Malawi managed to put up a fighting tota of 151 runs.

Chasing the target, Botswana wobbled in the start itself, losing their three wickets on just 29 runs. Skipper Moazzam Baig led from the front for Malawi and picked up 4 wickets while conceding just 10 runs in her 4-over quota. Botswana did play till the last over but managed to score only 95 runs with the loss of 9 wickets. They went winless from the tournament.
