Ardianto-Hidayat get tonight's quarter-final match underway, with Satwik-Chirag earning a quick point to set the tone for the clash. Stay tuned for live updates.
Fairly show rallies in the opening part of the first game. Chirag is still getting his positioning right, as he overcommitted and lost out on an easy return, tying the scores. However, both duos have shown exquisite smashes when going on the attack, so it's good viewing for the neutrals.
Much better from the Indian pair, who have gotten their combination going well and using their large frame against the Indonesians. However, it won't be smooth sailing against Ardianto and Hidayat, who are looking sharp on the court tonight.
Hidayat, who is a relative newcomer in the international badminton scene, has been the better among the Indonesian duo, exuding confidence. However, despite using the low rallies well, it's Satwik and Chirag who lead at the break in the first game.
A brilliant return serve from Hidayat earned the Indonesian duo a pair. In the next rally, Satwik leaves a return, which lands very close to the line. The umpire calls it OUT, and the Indian pair unsuccessfully challenge the decision. Ardianto-Hidayat are putting on a fight in this first game.
A miss-hit shot from Hidayat and a terrific change of angle from Satwik gives India a three-point lead. Is the first game slowly slipping away from the unseeded Indonesians?
Slightly lacklustre ending to the first game from Ardianto-Hidayat. Watching the match, it felt much closer than the scoreline would indicate. However, a couple of missed opportunities were grabbed by Satwik and Chirag, sealing the first game for the Indian pair.
Are Satwik-Chirag not at their very best tonight? It seems so, with a few unprecedented mistakes creeping in. A disguised shot from Chirag is read well by Ardianto-Hidayat, and Satwik's return hits the net, giving the Indonesian duo lead for the first time.
An unprecedented four-point lead by the Indonesian pair in the match. Chirag and Satwik need to shift gears quickly and bring out their A game, otherwise an upset might be on the cards in the second game.
The pressure seems to be coming on to the Indian pair, with a couple of overeager shots hitting the net and giving Ardianto-Hidayat a five-point lead. Satwik-Chirag, who cut down the lead but then lost another point, seem to be shooting themselves in the foot with mistakes, and the second game is looking pretty one-sided at the moment.
Every time it seems like a comeback is on the cards, Chirag and Satwik take a wrong decision and allow their opponents to solidify their lead. However, a poor return from Hidayat cuts down their lead to two points at the break.
After an ambitious shot from Satwik backfires, Chirag cuts down the lead to one with a pacy return. After that, a long shot from Ardianto - which was not necessary - ties the score in the second game. Satwik-Chirag's experience will be key in the final stages of the contest.
Two cheap mistakes from Satwik-Chirag gives their opponents a two-point lead, bringing out a smile from Ardianto. Despite Chirag pulling one back with his pace, a brilliant rally - with an equally well-played winner from Ardianto - takes them to match point, which is wrapped up after a miss-hit from Satwik.
It has been a really mistake-laden match so far from both camps, and the deciding game may boil down to which side can keep their nerves and errors down to a minimum. For now, the Indian pair hold a slender lead.
A challenge by Satwik-Chriag on the short serve, claiming that their opponent's shot was short. Replay shows that it needed was short, and the Indians hold on to their lead. Sustained pressure from the former world No. 1 pair is paying off, with Chirag's return earning another point.
Great reaction from Chirag, who - despite his height - is neutralising Ardianto-Hidayat's low shots. The Indian pair, despite looking miles away from their best, have held on to their substantial lead, despite the odd flashes of brilliance from their opponents. A proper quarter-final contest, this.
And the lead reduces... After a clash of rackets between the duo earns Ardianto-Hidayat a point, it's Chirag's time to make a needless error, finding the net with a return to cut down the lead to just two points.
It's just alternating periods between superb rallies and then mindboggling errors from both camps in this deciding game. All Satwik and Chirag need to do it hold on to this lead till match point, with the end - and a semi-final place - in touching distance.
While the Indonesians have stuck to their guns throughout the contest, Satwik and Chirag and experimented all throughout the match. After the second game setback, they have roared back in the decider, making comparatively less mistakes. As such, despite the occasional gaffe here and there, the Indians wrap up the match in style, moving on to the semi-finals.
That's a wrap for our live coverage of the men's doubles quarter-final involving Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, with the Indian pair moving to the semi-final.
Court 2 will now see the women's singles match between Akane Yamaguchi and Chiu Pin-Chian, after which, India's Lakshya Sen will be in action against Alex Lanier.
