India’s mixed doubles duo of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto made a strong start to their BWF World Championships 2025 campaign, cruising past Ireland’s Joshua Magee and Moya Ryan in straight games on Wednesday.
Seeded 16th in the tournament and having received a bye in the first round, the Indian pair displayed sharp coordination and control to register a commanding 21-11, 21-16 win. With this victory, Kapila and Crasto advanced to the third round, where they will face a tougher challenge against fifth-seeded Hong Kong pair Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet.
PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy kicked off their BWF World Championships 2025 campaigns in Paris on a strong note, while the mixed doubles pair of Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde also advanced. Sindhu recovered from an early deficit to beat Bulgaria’s Kaloyana Nalbantova 23-21, 21-6, showcasing her experience and attacking prowess.
Prannoy, the 2023 bronze medallist, overcame Finland’s Joakim Oldorff 21-18, 21-15 in a 47-minute men’s singles clash and will next face Denmark’s Anders Antonsen.
In mixed doubles, Kapoor and Gadde bounced back from losing the first game to defeat Macau China’s Leong Iok Chong and Weng Chi Ng 18-21, 21-16, 21-18, setting up a Round of 32 clash against Malaysia’s Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei on Wednesday.
Day 3 of the BWF World Championships 2025 in Paris began with mixed doubles pair Dhruv and Tanisha at 2:30pm IST and they won the match.
Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu will follow at 5:30pm, with Satwik-Chirag taking the court at 6:30pm in men’s doubles. HS Prannoy will then feature in singles action at 9:30pm, before Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde conclude the day in mixed doubles at 10:00pm, promising an exciting evening of high-quality badminton.
PV Sindhu's match which was scheduled to start at 5:30 PM IST has been delayed and re-scheduled at 6:00 PM IST (expected) due to court being occupied.
