'Back To Cricket Again'

No controversies, please. That's Saurav Ganguly's new mantra. "If it's to do with Navjot Sidhu, please keep away," was the prefix ahead of the interview. Excerpts:

Is this camp different from ones held in the past?

It’s been a combination of yoga and physical training by King. Has it worked?
At the yoga sessions, we do some stretching exercises in the morning. They help because our bodies go stiff by the end of training everyday. So, we stretch in the morning and get going at the camp. King has done well so far. He has jelled well with the team. But it’s too early for me to say more about him now.

Are you training specially to build endurance levels for the series against the Kiwis?
The training will be the same, but the mindset has to change (for a Test series). To do that, we start off with the Challenger series and then play the Irani Trophy matches. By the time the first Test starts, we would be alright.

Your assessment of the Kiwi team picked to tour India?
We have the home advantage. But we’ll have to play well to beat them because they are a competitive side.

They had a camp to train players on Indian conditions?
Is that so? I have no idea. But it’s going to be a good series.

And the Australia series?
Well, obviously it will be a tough one. We’ll have to lift our performances.

Any combinations worked out against these teams?
It’s too early to say. It all depends on the form of the players during the matches before the Test series.

Are we going to see any new faces in the team?
It’s early days yet to comment about this.
