- Manolya Onur, 51, a former Miss Turkey, was the third wife of Mukarram Jah, 74, the eighth Nizam of Hyderabad. The Nizam has been married and divorced five times.
- Manolya claims she received no divorce settlement. She has filed a suit in a Hyderabad court, and is now fighting a legal battle for maintenance, and protection of the future interests of their 15-year-old daughter Niloufer.
- Her demands include the magnificent Chiraan Palace in Hyderabad which, together with its 400 acres of land, is estimated to be worth Rs 300 crore. Much of the land has now been taken over by the state forest department.
- It is believed the Nizam paid his first two wives $30 million each in divorce settlements
- The Nizams of Hyderabad had been the richest rulers in pre-Independence India. There are reports that Jah is now severely cash-strapped though the Nizam’s Trust is said to be worth Rs 20,000 crore.
- Jah’s mother, Princess Durreshawar, who died recently, was the daughter of the last Sultan of Turkey
