Kerala’s beaches will soon get a facelift. The state government has allottedRs 84.11 crore under the Ente Theeram (My Shore) project for improving 20 beaches along the 560-km coastline. The project aims at coastal protection, construction of walkways, provision of drinking water, toilet facilities, security and lighting. The shoreline at Kovalam, Veli, Varkala-Kappil, Kollam, Alappuzha and Fort Kochi, among other places, will benefit from the scheme. All this is an offshoot of the new thrust on responsible tourism.
