The most favoured sexual position is the conventional one of man on woman while other postures are less favoured. Also, the survey reveals that sex is more a spontaneous act rather than a pre-determined activity for both men and women.

Fantasies have always paid a crucial role in sexual arousal, especially among men. For men, about 35 per cent say that watching others having sex excites them. Sex with relatives/friends and filmstars also scores high while masochism attracts about 12 per cent of the respondents.

The orgasm evades many, with 12 per cent of the males and 9 per cent of the females saying they never experience one. Only a small percentage—four to eight per cent—have two or more orgasms on one occasion. Most post-coital behaviour (47 per cent) consists in holding each other or for the male switching on the television or reading a book. Women are particularly interested in washing themselves before dropping off to sleep. Sexual relationships outside the home is a very uncommon experience, with 66 per cent saying a clear no, and 13 per cent refusing to comment.
