After Romesh Sharma's links with Dawood Ibrahim surfaced, the government steppedup efforts to fight the ISI. In this it is helped by the ISI which is very stupid. The ISIin turn is helped by the Indian police which is even more stupid.

On the 13th last month yet another ISI plot to kill L.K. Advani was foiled. The Gujaratpolice arrested Abu Qasam alias Ajmal. He eagerly babbled that he was assigned by the ISIto kill Advani. Having given this valuable information, the stupid fellow promptlysnatched a policeman's rifle and invited instant death. But earlier an ISI agent inAssam had proved that he was less stupid than an Indian policeman. He sought entry into apolice outpost. Asked to produce his identity papers, he handed over maps and letters fromthe ISI instead. The Indian policeman, being even more stupid, let him escape!

Some years ago a notorious terrorist, Gurnam Singh Bandala, was killed in an encounterwith the Punjab police. The gallant policemen who shot him collected the reward. Oops! Onthe 10th last month another policeman arrested Gurnam Singh Bandala! Er... who then wasthe chap killed? Not to worry. If he resembled Bandala he must have been a terrorist.

Not so lucky were UP policemen who shot dead four innocents on the 17th last monthclaiming that they were notorious gangster Dhananjay Singh and his gang. Alas, after theyobtained gallantry medals and out-of-turn promotions, the fraud was discovered. Because UPhas no K.P.S. Gill to defend them, they may even be punished!

Meanwhile, the Home Ministry with characteristic efficiency has informed us that theISI has smuggled 7,000 trained agents and 61,900 automatic weapons into India. Thisinformation weighs heavily on some national leaders.

According to Parliament's Central Hall sources, last week a leaderwas in his party office when a worker gasped that fire was raging in a city building."It must be the ISI," said the leader. Another ran in with the news that somefactories had gone on strike. "It's the ISI," the leader repeated withconviction.

A third came in and said that there was rioting in the neighbourhood. "I tell you,it's the ISI," the leader said.

A relative of the leader came in and said, "Good news, the doctor confirms thatyour wife is expecting!"
" ISI...!" the leader muttered.

My, oh my, oh my!
How bravely our police try To rival the ISI
In making us sob and cry!
