Gangster Explains Murder Motive
In the recording, Brar said Nijjar backed and empowered a drug network. He said people associated with this network blackmailed 16-to-17-year-old youngsters into selling drugs and acting as informers.
"Those who would prepare 16–17-year-old children to sell drugs and encourage them to do so...customarily...those who would blackmail children into selling drugs and acting as informers...Nijjar supported such people and made them stronger so that he could use them when required," Brar said.
He also said Nijjar was involved in the illegal trade of weapons, which prompted the gang to kill him. "Because of this, we had to kill him. Everyone has to bear the consequences of what they have done," Brar said.
He denied any personal involvement in the drug trade. "I have never dealt with chitta (drugs) and will never do so," Brar said.

India rejected Trudeau's allegations as "absurd" and "motivated" and strongly criticised him over his statement. The diplomatic dispute resulted in the mutual expulsion of envoys, a halt to bilateral interactions and an extended period of frosty relations.
