"We'll Have Something Concrete With The Left In Coming Months"

The TDP chief also considers the SP as a key member of the UNPA -- which means Mayawati and her BSP are out of the equation.

With mid-term polls in the air, Chandrababu Naidu feels he has a very important role to play in deciding the shape of the new government at the Centre. But the United National Progressive Alliance (UNPA) he launched as an alternative to the BJP and Congress has run into turbulence. AIADMK chief Jayalalitha's evident cooling off has left Naidu in a quandary because he was the one to float her name as the UNPA's leader. But now the Telugu Desam chief is all set to welcome the Left into his front. He also considers the Samajwadi Party as a key member of the UNPA. Of course, this means Mayawati and her Bahujan Samaj Party are out of the equation. Excerpts from an interview to Madhavi Tata:
After some initial hectic activity, the UNPA seems to be lying low now?
Is
your honeymoon with Jayalalitha over? She let you down in the presidential polls when her party members voted for Shekhawat and again on the demand for a JPC on the N-deal....
The BSP too meets your definition of an anti-BJP, anti-Congress party. Will there be a place for Mayawati at the UNPA table?
What is the Telugu Desam's stand on the Ram Setu?
Your line seems similar to that of the BJP. Is there a chance of the TDP and BJP aligning again?
The Left's anti-Congress line has become louder after the recent N-deal controversy. Do you think the time is ripe for an alliance with the Left?
You also seem to agree on opposition to the N-deal.
