Many different rescue teams, including the SDRF, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and local police, are all working together. They are helping both the stuck pilgrims and local residents by creating temporary walking paths and guiding people along safe, alternate routes to make sure they can travel securely.

Around 40 pilgrims returning from the Kedarnath Dham were rescued in Uttarakhand amid very heavy rainfall. The rescue was carried out by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) on Thursday.

The pilgrims were trapped on Wednesday night around 10 p.m. when a sudden landslide blocked the road near the Sonprayag area with rocks and mud, making it impossible for anyone to pass. Responding quickly, the SDRF team arrived and conducted a dangerous rescue operation during the night to bring everyone to safety, according to an NDTV report

According to reports, the severe weather is causing major problems across the hill state. The Badrinath National Highway is blocked by a new landslide near the Badrish Hotel in Umtta. The Yamunotri National Highway has also been badly damaged, as the non-stop rain has washed away parts of the road between Silai Band and Ojri.

The heavy rain has also damaged essential services. Electricity has been cut off in several areas like Agrakhaal, Chamba, and Jakhindhar. The water supply has also been affected in many parts of the Chamba block, adding more problems for residents who are already dealing with blocked roads, NDTV reported.

The IMD has warned that heavy rain and thunderstorms will likely continue in many districts, including Dehradun, Nainital, and Bageshwar.
