AFFIDAVIT
I, Jasbir Singh, son of Sardar Sattu Singh, aged 21 years, resident of C-67 Tilak Vihar, New Delhi, do hereby affirm and declare as below:
1. That I was residing with my uncle Sardar Sital Singh at E-583, Jagjit Nagar, Delhi-53, until November 1984.
2. That on 1-11-84, a mob led by Bhola, his son Raju, and Bhola’s wife guided the mob to our house. The mob also included kerosene oil [illegible]. They burnt our house. We took refuge in the opposite house. Then the mob threatened to burn that house too. My uncle came out and fought the attackers and kept them at bay for quite some time. As no one came to help or intervene he collapsed. I got my hair cut and slipped out and took refuge with my older uncle.
3. That I visited various camps in search of my other relatives.
4. That on 3-11-84 I met one Sardar Sucha Singh at Ludlow Castle School camp, who had come to provide relief to refugees. When I narrated to him my tale of suffering he offered that I stay with him for a few days and assist him in dairy work on payment.
5. He also appealed to me to grow my hair long again and lead the life of a Sikh.
6. That on [illegible]-11-84 my first day at Sardar Sucha Singh’s house at Outram Line, I was examining the location and new place after [illegible] around 11:00 p.m.
7. I noticed a group standing near T.B. Hospital gate. When I neared it with curiosity, a car arrived and Shri Jagdish Tytler, Minister, alighted. I know and recognise him, him being a Congress leader. He used to visit trans-Yamuna also with late Sh. Sanjay Gandhi. He immediately burst out and rebuked the persons forming the group that his instructions have not been faithfully carried out. His position is being greatly compromised and lowered in the eyes of central leaders. there has been only nominal killing in his constituency as compared to East Delhi, Outer Delhi, Cantt., etc. How would he be able to stake claims in the future? "I had promised large-scale killing of the Sikhs, and sought full protection, but you have betrayed and let me down", and he left in a huff.
8. That I narrated the details to Sardar Sucha Singh who nodded that every body by now knows that Congress I leaders of Delhi had instigated the killings.
9. [That w]e remained alert the whole night.
10. That no proper investigation has been done into the killings.
11. That the above-said statement was translated to me in my vernacular also, and is true, and nothing has been concealed therein.
