Three militants were killed on Sunday in an ongoing encounter in the Lidwas area near Srinagar, the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps said in official updates posted on social media.

The operation, named Op Mahadev, was launched earlier in the day. In an initial post on X (formerly Twitter), the Chinar Corps stated:

“Contact established in General Area Lidwas. Operation in progress.”

Later in the day, a follow-up message said:

“Three terrorists have been neutralised in an intense firefight. Operation continues.”

There is no official confirmation yet on the identities or affiliations of the deceased. The operation remains active, and no details have been shared about arms recovery or possible injuries to security personnel.

Although some reports have speculated a link between the Lidwas gunfight and the recent attack on Army personnel in Pahalgam, no such connection has been confirmed by either the Army or the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Further updates are awaited from the authorities as the operation proceeds.
