Security has been tightened across New Delhi ahead of an INDIA bloc MPs’ march to the Election Commission office on Tuesday. The Opposition is seeking the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and demanding that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls be withdrawn.

Over five companies of paramilitary forces, along with Delhi Police personnel, have been deployed along the route from Makar Dwar at Parliament to the Election Commission office. Around 140 Opposition MPs are expected to take part in the march, which is likely to start between 10:30 am and 11 am.

The Election Commission’s main entrance and the area around Jantar Mantar have been secured with multiple layers of barricading. Police said prohibitory orders under Section 163 continue to remain in force across the district, restricting public gatherings.

Since Friday, security at key locations across New Delhi has also been reinforced after protest calls over the SIR exercise, PTI reported. Officials increased deployment as the opposition's campaign widened from a political protest to a broader law and order concern in parts of the city.
