Revived: The Countdown ToHis Crucifixion

However, with the ex-captain, the board seems to be in no mood to revoke the ban and has decided to fight it out in court. This week, the BCCI counsel filed an affidavit in the district court, Hyderabad, offering the cbi report on match-fixing by way of evidence against Azhar. BCCI executive secretary Sharad Diwadkar too made himself available for cross-examination. The board has also requested the cbi for the complete questionnaire of its grilling of Azhar so as to buttress its case against the discredited ex-captain.

And that is not all. The board’s counsel has requested for all the circumstantial evidence or information the CBI has about Azhar’s alleged involvement in match-fixing, emerging from its questioning of other players and bookies. A. Venkatesh, counsel for the board, told Outlook: "If the CBI accepts our requests and makes all these documents available, our case will be much stronger and we can hope for a verdict within a fortnight."
