A man, identified as Cheeli Singaiah (55), died after being hit by a vehicle in the former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSRCP President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s convoy. The incident occurred on the National Highway near Lord Anjaneya temple, Etukuru village in Guntur on Wednesday.

According to the police, Cheeli had come to participate in the rally organised by Jagan Mohan Reddy. Reddy’s convoy for the same rally hit him and caused his death. The rally was organised from Tadepalli in Guntur district to Sattenapalli in Palnadu district. The rally was in honour of a party worker who ended his life after the general election result last year, intended to console the party worker’s family.

It was confirmed that Cheeli Singaiah was hit by a vehicle in Mr Jagan’s convoy in a joint press conference in Guntur after the accident, addressed by Guntur Range Inspector General of Police Sarvashresta Tripathi and Guntur District Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar. Additionally, the SP informed that the convoy proceeded without stopping after the occurrence of the accident without taking care of the victim. Upon being found by the police, the victim was taken to a hospital where the doctors declared that he had been brought dead. A police case was registered, and an investigation is ongoing.

“A vehicle in ex-Chief Minister’s convoy bearing number A.P. 26 CE 0001 hit the victim. When the accident happened, the person was injured, but the vehicle moved on. Meanwhile, ASI Rajasekhar admitted the victim to a hospital. Based on merits and complaints, the investigation will be conducted. We will take strict action on it.”, said Guntur District Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar, addressing the press conference.
