Summary
  • A 30-year-old Defence Ministry ASO was found dead at her Dwarka residence on August 21.

  • Her husband told police they had an argument before she locked herself inside a room.

  • Her parents later alleged harassment, leading to an FIR under BNS Sections 85 and 108.

A 30-year-old Assistant Section Officer (ASO) with the Ministry of Defence was found dead at her residence in Delhi’s Dwarka on Friday, August 21, 2026. Police received a call about the incident at around 4.20 pm, shortly after she was found dead at the house.

The woman’s family has alleged that she was three months pregnant at the time of her death. Police said the claim can only be confirmed through the post-mortem examination.

DCP (Dwarka) Kushal Pal Singh said police personnel immediately reached the spot. The body was taken into police possession and the concerned SDM was informed before it was shifted to the DDU Hospital mortuary as per procedure.

Argument Preceded Death

The woman had married in April 2026. According to police, an initial inquiry found that she had locked herself inside a room and was later found dead while her husband was present in the house.

The door was opened with the help of another key. The husband told police that the couple had an argument, following which she locked herself inside the room.

Police said further details would emerge after the post-mortem examination.

Family Alleges Harassment

The deceased’s family initially appeared before the executive magistrate and submitted written statements in which they did not express suspicion or make any allegations against her in-laws.

However, the woman’s parents appeared before the SDM on Saturday and submitted a complaint alleging harassment by her husband and in-laws.

Singh said that while the family had initially not raised any suspicion or allegations, the parents later approached the SDM with a complaint alleging harassment by the husband and in-laws.

Based on the complaint and the inquiry, police registered an FIR under Sections 85 and 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Section 85 deals with cruelty by a husband or his relatives, while Section 108 relates to abetment of suicide.

Further investigation is underway. Police said appropriate action would be taken on the basis of the evidence and facts that emerge during the investigation.
