  • Having dropped the arms and landed at Phuket, Thailand, why did AN-26 return to Madras when it could have proceeded to Karachi via Colombo.
  • Why did the various air defense Monitoring centres fail to pick up The aircraft on its radar screens when It strayed off its course.
  • Was the powerful air defense Surveillance radar at Kalaikonda switched of.
  • RAW now claims it knew of the Proposed airdrop almost awek in advance. But why did it alert the government a day after the arms were dropped.
  • Who were the arms for and which Agency funded the operation.

The Problems:

  • Overworked ATC officials.
  • Existing system unable to cope with the increased traffic load.
  • Poor coordination between ATCs and the IAF.
  • Lack of timely intelligence inputs.
  • Inefficient coomunication network between the DGCA and the ATC.
