Maharashtra Farmer Buries Himself In Mud In Protest Over Non-Possession Of Land In Government Scheme

Maharashtra farmer Sunil Jadahv has refused to end his protest until he receives the land promised to him under a state government scheme.

A farmer in Maharashtra’s Jalna district has buried himself in mud in protest over the non-possession of land allotted to him, as per a report.

Sunil Jadhav of Hasal village in Maharashtra Jalna buried himself partially in the mud to register his protest against the non-possession of land allotted to him under a welfare scheme in Maharashtra over three years ago, as per NDTV, which added that he was allotted the land in 2019 under the Karmaveer Dadasaheb Gaikwad Sablikaran Swabhiman Scheme.

"We were allotted two acres of land in 2019 under the Dadasaheb Gaikwad Scheme. But we don't have the papers in our hands yet. Therefore, I have buried myself," said Jadav, as per NDTV.

The report says Jadhav has refused to end his protest until he is given the possession of the land. He buried himself till his chest in the mud after multiple futile visits to the concerned department offices.

Jadav’s innovative way of dissent is attracting the attention of his region and is now making national headlines.

Recently, a Kerala man bathed in a ditch on the road filled with water and washed his clothes to protest against the status of roads.

In a separate incident, junior doctors in Hyderabad wore helmets on duty after a ceiling fan fell on a colleague at a hospital.
