Congeress Holds Polls For Party President

The Congress party is holding elections for the post of party president on Monday. The Congress is set to have its first non-Gandhi president in 24 years. Since 1998, the Congress presidency has been with the Gandhis, first with Sonia Gandhi who became party chief in 1998. Then in 2017, Sonia's son Rahul Gandhi became the party chief, but he resigned after the poor show in 2019 general elections. Following Rahul's resignation, Sonia took over as party chief again.
