Summary
  • Jaish-e-Mohammed has reportedly rebuilt its Markaz Subhan Allah headquarters in Bahawalpur, 15 months after it was targeted during Operation Sindoor.

  • The complex has been restored with new plaster, marble and rebuilt domes, with damaged structures also being cleared.

  • The facility remains a key JeM centre for recruitment, training and indoctrination of its cadres.

Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) has rebuilt its Markaz Subhan Allah headquarters in Pakistan’s Punjab province, 15 months after the facility was targeted during Operation Sindoor, India Today reported.

Exclusive visuals accessed by India Today TV show that the Bahawalpur complex has been restored with fresh plaster, new marble and rebuilt domes. Impact craters in the central hall have also been filled, apparently to conceal the damage caused by the Indian strikes.

The reconstruction comes after Indian forces targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on May 7, 2025. The strikes followed the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 people were killed.

Pakistan Funding And Reconstruction

Intelligence inputs indicated that the Pakistani establishment provided PKR 25 crore in cash instalments to JeM for the reconstruction, according to the report.

The group is believed to have spent around PKR 11 crore on rebuilding the central hall. The reconstruction follows earlier reports of fundraising efforts linked to the group for restoring parts of the Subhan Allah compound.

Structures adjoining the main complex, including Madrasa Al-Sabir and residential quarters used by JeM commanders, have also been cleared, with new construction underway at the site.

The reconstruction follows activity recorded in April and May 2026. Satellite imagery reviewed by India Today TV showed heavy machinery, construction vehicles and fresh cement work around the damaged domes.

A geo-intelligence researcher cited by the report said the construction activity indicated an effort to restore the facility to operational status.

Why Is Markaz Subhan Allah Significant?

The 18-acre Markaz Subhan Allah complex, also known as the Usman-o-Ali campus, is located around 100 km from the International Border and about 400 km southwest of Lahore.

The complex houses a mosque and other facilities and is situated close to a Pakistan Army cantonment that houses the headquarters of the army’s 31 Corps.

The facility has served as a key JeM centre for the recruitment, training and indoctrination of its cadres.

The terror outfit has been linked to several major attacks, including the 2001 Parliament attack, the 2016 Pathankot airbase attack and the 2019 Pulwama suicide bombing. The Pulwama attack was reportedly planned at the Subhan Allah camp.

What Happened During Operation Sindoor?

Indian forces targeted the JeM facility on May 7, 2025, as part of Operation Sindoor. JeM said the strike killed 13 people at the compound, including 10 relatives of its founder Masood Azhar.

The reconstruction of the facility comes despite Pakistan having banned JeM in 2002. The group, however, continues to operate from the country, with Azhar and other senior leaders remaining in Pakistan, according to the report.
