Methodology
Outlook commissioned Drshti Strategic Research to conduct an opinion poll in the aftermath of the Dadri beef killing. Drshti conducted 1,192 face-to-face interviews in 10 cities on October 6-8. The cities are: Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chennai, Calcutta and Srinagar. The sampling was spread across different areas in each city to ensure representation. Also, across age cohorts (18+ yrs), socio-economic class bands (A to D), gender (63% male, 37% female) and religions (67% Hindus, 19% Muslims and 10% Christians). The sample had 29% vegetarians, 5% egg-eating vegetarians and 66% non-vegetarians. The sampling error is under 3 per cent at 95 per cent confidence.
