Indo-US defence ties get a new thrust with the GSOMIA deal

  • Each party to the agreement give classified information provided by the other the same degree of security protection afforded to it by the releasing government;

  • All transfers of classified information be on a government-to-government basis;

  • Restrictions be observed regarding the use to which the information may be put, transfer of the information to third parties will not be permitted without authorisation of the releasing government, and proprietary rights will be observed;

  • Each party to the agreement report to the other party any compromise, or possible compromise, of shared information; and

  • Each party permit visits of the other's security experts for the purpose of conducting consultations on security measures.
