- Three out of five additional secretaries in the Union ministry of external affairs now are women;
- Six (or 30 per cent) of the 20-odd joint secretary posts also belong to them even though they account for a mere 13 per cent of all IFS (a) officers; and
- Three more women are due for promotion to the post of joint secretary in the not-too-distant future.
