'Do Our People Want To Return?'

The head of the Crisis Management Group (CMG) constituted to secure the release of Indian truckers kidnapped in Iraq shares his thoughts.

Minister of state for external affairs Edappakath Ahamed heads the Crisis Management Group (CMG) constituted to secure the release of the three Indian truckers kidnapped in Iraq. He has much on his mind as negotiations on the hostages continue but he takes time off to speak to V. Sudarshan. Excerpts from an interview:
What steps has the Indian government taken to secure the release of the three Indian truckers?
Anything else?
Have we taken steps to make it impossible or very difficult for Indians to go to Iraq?
Is Dulaimi a reliable interlocutor?
What happened then?
Dulaimi told us that if Asha Parekh or Amitabh Bachchan were to appeal, the hostages would be released immediately.
Are the Kenyans and others using the same negotiator?
Can we do anything to prevent copycat hostage-takings in the future?
What has been the response to this?
