- explain the logic and spirit of the PM's initiative, specifically that he hadn't allowed the Lahore and Agra experiences to dampen his quest for peace;
- the peace initiative this time would be gradual, calibrated;
- this in no way dilutes India's expectations of ending infiltration and dismantling the infrastructure of terror;
- that the government distinguishes between the process of normalisation and resumption of dialogue, and that the normalisation process would ultimately lead to restoration of status quo ante (obtaining before December 2002).
