What inspired the title Echoes of Becoming and how does it reflect your current phase as an artist?

The title Echoes of Becoming emerged from my ongoing exploration of change and growth, both as an artist and as a person. Over the years, my art has evolved into a language of transformation, where every brushstroke becomes a trace, an echo of what I am becoming. It reflects my present phase which is contemplative, open, and deeply connected to the process of creation itself. These works are about continuity, renewal, and faith in life’s unfolding.

How would you describe the central idea or motion behind this body of work?

At the heart of Echoes of Becoming lies a search for light, hope, and renewal. These paintings are meditations on transformation, the ebb and flow of inner and outer worlds. They arise from a place of intuition and emotional truth, exploring how beauty, color, and texture can express what words cannot. The central feeling is one of faith in the human spirit, its ability to evolve, to heal, and to keep becoming.

What draws you to abstraction as your chosen visual language?

Abstraction allows me to move beyond form and representation to express what cannot be contained in words. It gives me the freedom to translate emotions, sensations, and inner states into color, rhythm, and texture. I am drawn to its openness and its ability to hold silence and intensity together. Through abstraction, I explore the unseen, the spiritual, the emotional, and the transient, and invite the viewer into a space of contemplation and resonance rather than explanation.

Why did you choose Delhi and Bikaner House as the venue for this exhibition?

Delhi has always been a vibrant cultural hub, a meeting point for ideas and creativity. I wanted Echoes of Becoming to unfold in a space that resonates with that energy. Bikaner House, with its architectural grace and artistic legacy, offers the perfect setting, a place where art can breathe and the viewer can engage deeply. Showing this work in Delhi feels like a homecoming and a celebration of years of persistence, growth, and becoming.

How do you see your artistic journey evolving through this showcase?

Echoes of Becoming marks a pivotal moment in my journey, a coming together of years of exploration and quiet persistence. Through this body of work, I sense a deeper clarity, both in my visual language and inner vision. My engagement with abstraction has become more intuitive and spiritual, a dialogue between what is visible and what lies beyond. Each painting carries within it traces of my evolution as an artist and as a person, continually becoming, expanding, and transforming.

Could you share how your creative process unfolds in the studio?

My creative process unfolds intuitively. I begin with an unplanned gesture, a mark, a color, a rhythm, and allow it to lead me. Using acrylics of varying opacity, I build layers through splattering, glazing, scratching, and erasing until forms and energies begin to emerge. Each painting grows through dialogue between control and spontaneity. It is a meditative act of discovery, where creation itself becomes transformation, a journey from silence to becoming.

What role do material and texture play in conveying your thoughts and emotions?

Material and texture are the emotional core of my paintings. I use acrylics of varying opacity, layering, scraping, and glazing to create depth and luminosity. Each surface records traces of movement, impulse, and reflection, a visual diary of becoming. Sometimes texture itself becomes the form, sometimes color speaks first. Through this tactile language, I translate emotions that words cannot hold, revealing beauty, vulnerability, and resilience in their purest form.

How do you wish viewers to engage with or interpret your work?

I want viewers to experience my paintings beyond words, to feel rather than interpret. Each work is an invitation to enter a space of silence and wonder, to sense beauty, light, and transformation. I hope they engage intuitively, allowing color, texture, and rhythm to stir something within. My wish is that they discover echoes of their own emotions and becoming in the work, that quiet moment when art speaks directly to the soul.

What are your expectations from Echoes of Becoming and what lies ahead for you after this exhibition?

Echoes of Becoming is a milestone, a pause to share my inner world and two decades of artistic evolution. I hope the works resonate, evoke beauty, and leave viewers with a quiet sense of renewal. After this exhibition, I wish to keep exploring, expanding scale, experimenting with materials, and deepening my visual language. For me, art is an ever-evolving journey, and this is one luminous moment in that continuum of becoming. After the show, I plan to take a short break and rest before beginning the next chapter.
