'Rules-Based Global Trade Vital'

Bilaterals are only supplementary, correction of distortions is key to fair multilateral deals'

Commerce minister Kamal Nath is optimistic of the Doha round as well as the multilateral system even as he says that the US has to better its offer. Excerpts from an interview:
Would you blame the US for the collapse of the round?
You mean we won't move unless they correct the distortions first?
What are we offering?
So we don't lose anything...
We've had mixed success in bilaterals too...
(WTO chief) Lamy said India could have done more.
When we give market access to others, don't our consumers benefit?
Will Doha remain in limbo?
Are we throwing our might around a bit?
