Renault Captur Prices Drop; RXT Dual-Tone, Platine Variants More Affordable

Starting price of the Captur remains unchanged at Rs 9.99 lakh

  • Only the RXT Dual-tone and the diesel-only Platine variants have received a price cut.
  • Price of the RXT dual-tone petrol variant has been reduced by Rs 41,000.
  • The RXT dual-tone diesel has received a price cut of Rs 60,000.
  • The top-end Platine variant’s price has gone down by Rs 81,000.

In a bid to attract more customers, Renault has revised the prices of its flagship model, the Captur, which went on sale in India in November 2017. The Captur has received a price cut of upto Rs 81,000. That said, prices of only the higher-spec RXT and the top-spec Platine variants have been reduced, while the RXE and RXL variants continue to retail at older prices.

After a price cut of Rs 41,000, the RXT petrol dual-tone is now priced at Rs 11.46 lakh. The RXT dual-tone diesel, on the other hand, is now priced at Rs 12.67 lakh, Rs 60,000 less than the older price of Rs 13.27 lakh. At Rs 81,000, the top-spec Captur Platine dual-tone variant receives the highest price cut and is now priced at Rs 13.25 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).

With the launch of cars like the Nissan Kicks and the Tata Harrier looming large, the price cut seems like an effort to make the Captur more appealing for buyers. While the Kicks is expected to be priced in the same range as the Captur, the Harrier's lower variants might overlap with the Captur's higher-spec ones.

In order to clear out the pending stocks, Renault is also offering discounts on the MY 2018 Captur. Cash benefits of Rs 1.2 lakh are being offered on the RXE petrol and diesel variants, while the RXL diesel variant attracts a discount of Rs 2 lakh. The RXT dual-tone (petrol and diesel) and the diesel-only Platine are available with cash benefits of Rs 1.7 lakh.
