Hyundai Santro Prices Go Up! New Entry-Level Era Executive Variant Introduced

Mid-spec Magna and Sportz variants get additional convenience and safety features

  • Santro Era Executive is priced in between the D-Lite (Rs 3.90 lakh) and Era (Rs 4.25 lakh).

  • Era Executive is equipped similar to the Era but skimps on power outlet and rear AC vents.

  • Magna MT and CNG get a 2-DIN audio system with multi-function steering wheel.

  • Sportz AMT is only other variant after the top-spec Asta to get a passenger airbag, seatbelt pretensioners and rear parking camera.

  • Prices of existing variants remain unchanged.

A little over a month after our report, Hyundai has now rejigged the variant lineup of the Santro and the in-process, increased the entry-level prices of the hatchback. Hyundai has done away with the previous two entry-level variants - the D-Lite (Rs 3.90 lakh) and Era (Rs 4.25 lakh) - to make way for a slightly more feature-rich Era Executive variant (Rs 4.15 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi). The total variant count now drops to four, including the Era Executive, Magna, Sportz and Asta, with prices remaining unchanged at Rs 4.15 lakh to 5.68 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The Era Executive is better equipped than the D-Lite as it features body-coloured bumpers, hub caps on the outside, manual AC with heater and front power windows. But it misses out on the front power outlet and rear AC vents which were available on the Era variant. The Magna MT and CNG variant now receive a 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth, USB and steering mounted controls which were earlier reserved for the Magna AMT only.

The Hyundai Santro Sportz AMT is now equipped with passenger airbag, seatbelt pretensioners and rear parking camera which was earlier limited only to the top-spec Asta trim. That said, the Sportz MT and CNG variant buyers will continue to miss out on this extra safety tech.  While a driver airbag, ABS with EBD is standard on the Santro, the rear parking sensors are only available on the top-spec Asta variant. Other mandatory features such as seatbelt reminders and speed alert system are still unavailable even on the top-spec Santro. These are some features which we see even on cars belonging a segment below such as the Datsun redi-GO, which recently received yet another update.
