2019 Toyota Fortuner Launched; Prices Start At Rs 27.83 Lakh

Gets perforated leather front seats, heat rejection glass, and more

  • Perforated front leather seats and beige colour upholstery limited to Fortuner diesel.

  • Heat rejection glass has been introduced on both petrol and diesel Fortuner.

  • Other features remain unchanged.

  • Toyota has also hiked the price of the MY 2019 Fortuner.

Toyota has updated the features list of the Fortuner. The SUV is now equipped with perforated leather seats at the front and heat rejection glass. It also gets new beige colour upholstery, which is being offered alongside the existing dark brown colour.

While the heat rejection glass in being offered as standard on the Fortuner, the perforated leather seats and beige colour upholstery is limited to the Fortuner diesel. Moreover, the diesel Fortuner can be had with any of the two upholstery options. Other features have remained unchanged. It continues to get LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs and fog lamps, push-button start, dual-zone climate control, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and Bluetooth, among others.

For safety, the Fortuner is equipped with seven airbags, ABS with EBD, hill start assist, vehicle stability control, traction control and hill descent control (4WD only).

With the mild feature update, Toyota has also updated the price list of the Fortuner. It now starts at Rs 27.83 lakh and goes up to Rs 33.60 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Earlier, the Fortuner was priced from Rs 27.58 lakh to 33.43 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Mechanically, the Fortuner has remained unchanged. It is available with a 2.7-litre petrol and a 2.8-litre diesel engine. Where the petrol Fortuner makes 166PS of power and 245Nm of torque with a 5-speed MT, the diesel Fortuner is good for 177PS and 420Nm with a 6-speed MT and 450Nm with a 6-speed AT. The 6-speed AT gearbox is available with the 2.7-litre petrol engine as well. The Fortuner is also available with 4WD option, but it is limited to the diesel version.

Since this is a minor update, expect the Fortuner to receive a facelift in the near future. Ford has already updated the Endeavour, the pre-facelift version of which was launched just a few months ahead of the second-gen Fortuner. With the facelift, expect Toyota to update the feature list of the SUV as it looks quite outdated by today’s standards, especially when compared to the Ford Endeavour.
